Following the enormous success of IATEFL's first Q&A webinar with David Crystal in 2013, this year IATEFL is proud to offer its very own Signature Event featuring our highly knowledgeable patron. During this session, you decide on the content! David will answer questions on various language issues such as language use and change as well as grammar and lexis. Questions will be collected in advance on IATEFL's various social media sites and at the Meet the Patron events at the IATEFL Stand during the conference. Створення хмар слів за лексикою певної теми, хмари синонімів, скласти оповідання, використовуючи слова з хмари або переказати текст. Можна дати завдання зібрати вірш за хмарою слів, знайти зайве слово.

Quizlet lets registered users create "sets" of terms customized for their own needs. These sets of terms can then be studied under several study modes.

1.     Flashcards. This mode is similar to paper flash cards. In it, users are shown a "card" for each term. Users can click to flip over the card and see the definition for that term.

2.     Learn. In this study mode, users are shown a term or definition and must type the term or definition that goes with what is shown.

3.     Speller. In this mode, the term is read out loud and users must type in the term with the correct spelling.

4.     Test. 4 written questions, 4 multiple choice questions, 3 True/False questions.

Мета проекту - дозволити людям отримувати листівки з усього світу, безкоштовно. Тобто практично безкоштовно! Основна ідея така: якщо ви вiдсилаєте листівку, то отримаєте як мінімум одну натомість від випадкового посткросера з якогось куточка земної кулі.

Онлайновий сервіс, який дозволяє створювати інтерактивні вправи. Їх можна використовувати в роботі з інтерактивною дошкою, або як індивідуальні вправи для учнів. На сайті доступна велика база завдань, розроблених учителями з різних країн для усіх предметів шкільної програми. Кожен із ресурсів можна використати на своєму уроці, змінити під власні потреби, розробити схожий чи зовсім інший навчальний модуль.

Gradable and Non-gradable Adjectives

Adjectives can be either gradable or non-gradable
Gradable
Gradable adjectives are adjectives like ‘cold’ ‘hot’ and ‘frightened’. You can be very cold or a bit cold. Gradable adjectives show that something can have different degrees.
Non-gradable
Non-gradable adjectives are adjectives like ‘married’ or ‘wooden’. You can’t be very married or a bit married. Non-gradable adjectives do not have different degrees. Adjectives like ‘terrifying’, ‘freezing’ ‘amazing’ are also non-gradable adjectives. They already contain the idea of ‘very’ in their definitions – ‘freezing’ means ‘very cold’ etc.
Using adverbs of degree
When we use adverbs of degree to modify adjectives we usually have to use different adverbs for gradable and non-gradable adjectives.

• NOT I’m completely hot.
• NOT It was very fantastic!

With gradable adjectives

• It’s a bit cold in here. Shall I turn the fire on?
• He’s very interested in history. Why don’t you buy him a history book?
• This exercise is really difficult. I don’t know any of the answers.
• I’m extremely tired. I’m going to bed. The adverbs ‘a bit’, ‘very’, ‘really’, ‘extremely’ and quite can all be used with gradable adjectives.

With non-gradable adjectives

• It’s absolutely freezing in here. Shall I turn the fire on?
• He’s completely fascinated by history. Why don’t you buy him a history book?
• This exercise is absolutely impossible.
• That film is really terrifying. Don’t go and see it on your own.

The adverbs ‘absolutely’ and ‘completely’ can be used with non-gradable adjectives. Notice that ‘really’ can be used with both gradable AND non-gradable adjectives but it is normally used in less formal speaking and writing.
